Billing and insurance frequently asked questions
Your anesthesia bill
You will receive a separate billing from Northwest Anesthesia Physicians, PC, just as you receive a bill from your surgeon or other medical provider. Our anesthesiologists’ charges are not included in your hospital bill. Your fee includes our preoperative evaluation, basic monitoring and care during surgery, and recovery room anesthesia care. The amount of the fee is dependent on the complexity of your surgery and the amount of time you are in the care of the anesthesiologist.
Insurance
Northwest Anesthesia Physicians, PC will bill your primary and secondary insurance for you. It is our policy to have all insurance benefits paid directly to us leaving any deductible and/or coinsurance portions of the bill for the patient to pay after your primary and/or secondary insurance has paid. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard or Discover cards.
Medicare
Northwest Anesthesia Physicians, PC participates with and accepts assignment on all Medicare billing. Because we accept assignment, Medicare will send the Medicare payment directly to Northwest Anesthesia Physicians, PC. The patient will receive an “Explanation of Benefits” from Medicare. Medicare will pay 80% of the Medicare allowed, leaving the remaining 20% of the allowed and any deductible amount to be paid by the patient and/or secondary insurance.
Payment delays
Should there be a delay of payment from your insurance company, you are responsible for payment of your account. We do not accept responsibility for collecting from your insurance company or negotiating a disputed claim.
